When Steve asked me to photograph his wedding at Tracy Park Hotel I couldn’t be more excited. I have known him for a long time and seeing him so happy was a real joy. He clearly enjoyed planning his special day. I met his lovely fiancé Zoe at the beginning of the year. Together, we discussed the photos that would be taken on the day and after that we headed off for an engagement shoot, which they both enjoyed.
“Magda, you’ve captured us perfectly and beautifully.
We both felt a bit glamorous, so thank you, you made that happen. I never felt so great sitting on a damp log by a pond.
We both feel so much more confident about being photographed now.
Thank you again Magda. I’m so very pleased to have you doing our wedding shoot.”
They chose to get married in the St Bartholomew’s Church in Wick. The ceremony was to be followed by the reception at Tracy Park Hotel in Bath. The hotel is located in the picturesque Somerset countryside. I arrived at Tracy Park on Friday and could instantly feel the old character and charm when I walked around the luxury cottages and carriages that date back to 1856. This venue is a dream location for a stylish wedding! Walking around the grounds that evening before the wedding gave me a great idea of where I would do the shots next day.
Next morning, we woke up to a beautiful, bright and sunny weather and I started off with bride’s preparation. I enjoyed having the opportunity to be more creative and was able to shoot wedding details outside, in the natural light. Zoe looked stunning in her dress from Ronald Joyce collection purchased at Anya Bridal. I loved the choice of colours: blue for suits and pink for bridesmaids dresses and the amazing flowers by Kimberley’s The Florist. During preparations I tend to focus on natural photos. I go with the flow of the morning, trying to capture those moments of make-up and hair being done, champagne being opened and emotions being exchanged between the bride and everybody who supports her in the morning.
Once I was content with the preparation shots, I left for the church to meet the groom and the guests as they arrive for the ceremony. I couldn’t wait to see Zoe arriving in the Carriage with Horses by Blagdon Horse Drawn Carriages in the glorious sunshine.
The ceremony was simply beautiful. It is always a joy to observe these love sparkles of bride and groom when they exchange their vows. Knowing that they are going to see them on the photographs makes my job very special.
After the confetti shots in front of the church, it was time to head back to Tracy Park Hotel. I saw a potential for a beautiful frame so I hid in the bushes to capture Steve and Zoe’s arriving at the impressive venue.
I was very happy with all the family shots. Some of the groups were quite sizeable, but we managed the process very smoothly. We then had a bit of time for our private shoot. We had to make the most of the stunning backdrops that Tracy Park Hotel has on offer. Luckily, we were blessed with the beautiful light on the day. I personally liked going up the hill in the golf buggy and taking these marvellous portraits of Steve and Zoe looking at the spectacular views. I think they enjoyed this quiet and peaceful moment too:-)
The reception was held in a luxury marquee provided by Tracy Park Hotel. The tables were dressed to perfection. The glistening crystal chandeliers added a touch of glamour. The lush flowers in the same hues as the wedding colour palette created a very romantic ambience. To complement the picture, Bride&Groom Thrones in a Leopard print (my favourite!) stood out in the room beautifully.
The whole day was fairly relaxed and I could feel the positive vibes and happiness coming from all the guests. There were a few nice surprises for Steve and Zoe. One of them was Opera Singers provided by Encore Management appearing in the room during the wedding breakfast. They got everybody stand up and dance, the atmosphere was incredible. I have never seen anything like it before.
I have always been a big believer that a good lighting almost guarantees a good party. The romantic string lights outside the marquee had totally transformed the space. A stunning display of fireworks injected magic and undeniable sparkle to Steve and Zoe’s glamorous day.
Steve and Zoe, it was an absolute honour and pleasure to photograph your marvellous day. I wish you all the happiness and love! Thank you so much for your kind words:
“Magda is a superstar! After photographing two of our friend’s weddings, when it came to our big day there was no doubt in our minds. She is brilliantly creative and has a special ability to capture an atmosphere, a moment on film. From the first meeting, Magda is passionate, professional and consultative in her approach. She took time to understand what we liked, what we didn’t like, our foibles… She talks with knowledge around lighting, composition and style of photography which gave us huge confidence & trust she would deliver. On the day of our wedding, she was Wonderwoman! She was everywhere for every moment, capturing every aspect of what was very busy day. We still don’t know how she managed to be in two places at once!Magda was wonderfully assertive, getting 15+ family members into position and all looking at the camera is no small task, but she did it, fantastically. Her attention to detail, perfectionism & experience shines through, re-positioning a ladies hat, moving an arm, turning a shoulder so every picture is perfect. Something you only truly get to appreciate when you see your photos afterwards. We can’t thank you enough Magda. You have captured our day beautifully, and the whole experience has just been amazing from start to finish.” Steve&Zoe
